My Brexit Diary:

The Brexit Party General Election Campaign June-December 2019

Previous: The Euro-Elections, April-June 2019

On 1 June the Brexit Party rallied to fight the Peterborough by-election for candidate Mike Greene, who narrowly lost.

The by-election was caused by the Labour MP Fiona Onasanya, lying about who was at the wheel when she was caught by this speed camera.

On 10 July 2019 Lance Forman, then Brexit Party MEP, hosted this forum at his restaurant on Fish Island, with Alka Seghal Cuthbert, Dave Axe and Me (with a lovely picture by Jan Bowman @therealjanbow)

16 July 2019 - at a Brexit Party training event

In August I was chosen as Brexit Party candidate for Islington (though later I had to stand down).

19 August, a meeting of prospective Brexit Party candidates in Central London, with Paddy Hannam and Alaric Bamping, among others.

25 August, Islington (and other) supporters barbecue

26 August 2019, North London campaign meeting, with Roger in the chair

7 September 2019 - people were surprised to see a Brexit Party street stall in Archway, but we got a good reception

21 September, a stall for South Islington candidate, Paddy Hannam, with Daisy and her Brexit wagon

With supporters of all ages...

5 October, 2019, Campaigning in Limehouse for Catherine Cui, with Sally, Ben and Ana

14 October, Brexit candidates and supporters protesting outside Parliament

29 October 2019, Brexit Party Rally, Newham, with David Axe, Emma Stockdale, Alka Seghal, Ben Habib, Munish Sharma, Catherine Cui and Parag Shah

By the end of October, Boris Johnson's gamble of embracing the Brexit Party position was eating away at support.

Meeting of 'The Full Brexit' academics, 2 November, with Peter Ramsay, Anshu Srivastava, Mary Davis, Lee Jones, Steve Hall, Richard Tuck

With Catherine Cui's Limehouse team, 8 November 2019

James Woudhuysen, candidate for Carshalton and Wallington at the hustings, 29 November 2019

After falling out with some Brexit Party supporters over the meaning of the First World War, I stood down to back Yosef David as Candidate for Islington North

Canvassing for Yosef, Holloway Road, 1 December; and then off to Newham to support Alka Seghal Cuthbert at the Newham Hustings

With Paddy Hannam and Emily Thornberry at the South Islington Hustings, 3 December 2019

12 December, Election Day - casting mine for David Yosef

On an election-night panel with the Brexit Creatives, Marc Glendening, Jan Bowman, Kunle Olulode, Alka Seghal Cuthbert

Paddy Hannam and Emily Thornberry, S. Islington result; Jeremy Corbyn and Yosef David, N. Islington

David's sceptical eyebrow raised at Corbyn's claim of a principled contest went viral; Seamus Milne looking grim.

In the event, it was the Conservative Party who won the Brexit vote, having taken the Brexit Party's policies.
