CARNAP, Rudolf, (1891-1970), logical positivist of the Vienna Circle.
German philosopher who was professor, at Vienna University (1926-31); the German
University of Prague (1931-35); the University of Chicago (1936-52); the Institute for
Advanced Study (1952-54) and UCLA (1954-70). Author of Der logische Aufbau der Welt
(1928), Abriss der Logistik (1929), Logische Syntax der Sprache (1934), Meaning
and Necessity (1947), Logical Foundations of Probability (1950).
